September’s Artwalk is already being planned and we’ll be sharing all the details soon! We return to the East Zone, which includes great stops like Norsworthy Gallery, Bon Temps Coffee Bar, Fully Stacked, and Remington Suite Hotel & Spa, among others. This month, we will welcome three NEW stops to the monthly artwalk: the downtown branch of the Shreve Memorial Library (424 Texas Street), the lobby of Chase Tower (400 Texas Street) and Artipsy (Red River District). These new stops will combine with our older favorites to make for a very special night.
What is artwalk? Well, it’s a free, all-ages-friendly event that encourages folks to explore a section of our beautiful & historic downtown, that on this night is filled with art and artists and special fun events. Businesses throw open their doors to show off their space AND you get to meet some of our amazingly talented citizens. On any given month, you might see the works of: painters, sculptors, wood workers, fabric and jewelry makes, airbrush artists, photographers, potters and more. Downtown is nothing if not eclectic!
One of the really fun events that is scheduled during the East Zone tour is called Art Live. This is an event that pits three of four artists against each other and the clock. They are giving a general theme but nothing else, and during the course of the evening, they are given several tasks to perform or problems to solve. It is really a lot of fun watching the creative process in person!
Artwalk is free and all-ages friendly. Parking is plentiful and free. Food and drink are available for purchase and all the art is available for purchase, too!
